Nupur Vaghasia portrait

As a trauma-informed South Asian therapist, I offer a warm, grounding space where you don’t have to perform or be “put together”. I bring gentle structure, follow your pace, and help you explore emotional patterns and protective strategies, all while creating space for the parts of you that have long gone unheard, unseen, or unspoken.

About Me

Hi, I’m Nupur.

I am a therapist-in-training offering reflective, trauma-informed and culturally responsive care for people navigating anxiety, identity, intergenerational trauma, and life transitions. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University.

As a South Asian woman practicing, I understand how cultural norms, migration, and unspoken histories shape our emotional lives. I hold space for the parts of you that may have been silenced—grief, anger, shame, joy, or uncertainty—and I meet them with warmth, curiosity, and respect.

My work is rooted in psychodynamic and relational therapy. That means I’m interested in the patterns and relationships that have shaped you, and how they’re showing up in the present. I also incorporate somatic and mindfulness-based practices to help you tune into your body’s wisdom. When needed, I bring in psychoeducation or CBT tools in a way that’s integrated and empowering.

You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can gently explore what’s underneath and what’s ready to heal.

I’m ready when you are :)

My philosophy

I believe therapy is not about fixing you. It’s about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have long deserved care. This is a space where you don’t need to shrink, translate, or prove your pain; you can simply be seen and heard.

Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and compassionate. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations, and I aim to create a space where your full self is not just accepted, but affirmed. As a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive therapist, I’m especially attuned to the quiet struggles that often go unseen, like self-doubt, guilt, or feeling overwhelmed by expectations. Together, we’ll explore emotional patterns, unpack protective strategies, and nurture a deeper connection to yourself, so healing feels both possible and authentic.

Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’ve been before, my goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore and heal in a way that feels authentic to you.

Therapy philosophy

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Together, we’ll shape our work based on what feels most supportive for you. My approach weaves together several perspectives:

Psychodynamic

I help you notice and understand recurring patterns, early experiences, and the emotional undercurrents that shape your present challenges.

We use body-based awareness and grounding practices to bring balance and presence into daily life—especially when words fall short.

While our work is grounded in deeper exploration, I may draw from CBT to provide psychoeducation—offering insights that complement your process.
